Mt. Baker Video

As part of a research project, I along with a team researched the impact climate change has on the ski industry. Traveling to Mt. Baker to preform interviews, we got first hand encounter to those who will be affected.

  • The Northern Hemisphere has already lost a million square miles of spring snowpack since 1970-an area three times the size of Texas.

  • Snow levels are rising in elevation and winters are becoming shorter

  • The outdoor sports industry supports 7.6 million jobs

  • 23 million Americans participate in winter sports annually

  • These skiers, snowboarders, and snowmobilers added an estimated $20.3 billion in economic value to the U.S. economy

  • In 2016 the ski industry supported 191,000 jobs, this number is projected to fall with lack of snow leading to lack in participation in snow sports
