The concept behind my interactive system is hearing the rhythm and chaos of the city. By placing laser sensors on either side of the crosswalk, the pedestrian’s feet are noticed by the laser, triggering a speaker. Each color is assigned a specific noise and can pick up multiple pedestrians on the same color path. A speaker is placed next to a crosswalk button, allowing pedestrians to hear the activity over the crosswalk. The role of the public is to walk across the street, allowing their rhythm to be heard. The only input needed for the system to work is movement across the crosswalk.
